Free online course: What is International Development?

“What is International Development?” is a course from the University of East Anglia that is provided via FutureLearn. This English course requires a 2-hour lecture every week. Although it is a free course, students have to pay $44 to get the certificate. The essence of this program is to open the eyes of students to the interesting facts and concepts about international development. Students will learn the ways through which people are affected by international developments.

While the course covers various areas of the world, its focus is on Nairobi which is the capital city of Kenya. Using Nairobi, various abstract debates and ideas will be explained through the aid of the real-life experiences of some individuals.

By the end of the course, students will know the indicators of development, migration, population growth as well as urbanization. They will also understand the indicators of environmental challenges such as pollution and waste.

Irrespective of your background, you can join this course if you want to learn about the diversity in different parts of the globe. However, it is mostly suitable for individuals that want to work or study in the area of international development.

Notably, “What is International Development?” will be taught by Charlie Williams.
