Coventry University launches free online course on Humanitarian Action

In this course, you will discover the practical ways to provide humanitarian aid. Throughout the two week long course, both theoretical and practical perspectives relating to humanitarian efforts are explored. Specifically, you will discuss the context of humanitarian efforts and disaster management cycles.

This course is targeted towards both individuals who do not have experience in working in humanitarian cycles as well as those who would like to refresh their professional knowledge. By taking this course, humanitarian professionals will be able to develop their skill set and understanding of the nature of a humanitarian crisis. Graduates of this course should possess the ability to work efficiently and quickly in a crisis and will understand the necessity of these skills in disaster management. Both beginners and experienced humanitarian relief workers will be able to increase their skill set and ability to perform well in a crisis by taking this course.

The course is taught by Martin Nthakomwa, Coventry University’s lecturer in international disaster relief and community reconstruction. Nthakomwa’s previous areas of focus in his career have included providing relief to those with HIV/AIDs, peacekeeping efforts, migration, and refugees.

Although the course is free, individuals may choose to obtain a $74 certificate by taking the course.
