Description

Your new field of activity

The Ruta Pacífica de las Mujeres is an alliance of about 300 women’s organizations and groups with different ethnic and social backgrounds. For 20 years it has been pursuing the aim of documenting the effects of the armed internal conflict in Colombia on women’s lives and demanding their right to come to terms with this, to truth, to reparation and non-repetition, and to ensure that the gender perspective is taken into account. The peace agreement signed in 2016 initiated new processes to come to terms with the past marked by violence and created an important basis for the accompaniment and defence of victims’ rights.

More than ever before, women’s movements have succeeded in establishing themselves as an important player, both in preparing the way for and in negotiating the peace agreement. Our partner organisation would like to use its many years of experience to help ensure that female-specific concerns and experiences of violence are taken into account in the process of dealing with the past. They are supporting the Ruta Pacífica de las Mujeres at a historic moment in time so that the concerns of the women affected by the conflict can be included in the final report of the Truth Commission. This should help to establish the right of women to reparation and guarantees for non-repetition, as well as to promote an inclusive democratic society in the long term.

You will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • You support the documentation and systematization of human rights violations against women on the basis of the working approach of the Truth Commission.
  • You work together with Ruta Pacífica de las Mujeres for drawing up recommendations and advising the Truth Commission on the integration of the gender perspective.
